8 hours

Moderate

Discover the history of Sagunto and Valencia on a shore excursion from the port of Valencia. See Roman and Moorish remains, visit the Teatro Romano, and explore the old quarters of Valencia.

Join a full-day shore excursion that covers both Valencia and Sagunto. Discover the fiery history of Sagunto and see incredible Roman and Moorish remains. Then, return to Valencia for a panoramic visit and a walking tour of the old quarters.

Start with a pickup at the port followed by a drive to Sagunto. Discover the Roman influence in the beautiful Teatro Romano whose original structure housed up to 6,000 spectators. Built in the second century, this beautiful amphitheatre has undergone careful restoration and is still in use today.

Admire the surrounding views of the dramatic cliffs and castle. See some attractive architecture around the Plaza Mayor, including the beautiful gothic Santa Maria Parish church which dates all the way back to 1334 and is decorated with gargoyles.

The oldest Christian church is the 13th-century Iglesia del Salvador. The remains of a complex series of Arabic walls can also be found around the city and a stroll through La Judería, or Jewish Quarter, makes for a very enjoyable morning.

Some of the best-preserved architecture can be found in La Juderia, from the wobbly little houses to the winding streets, this is undoubtedly Sagunto’s most charming area. Later in the day, return to Valencia for a panoramic visit and a walking tour of the old quarters.

Discover the impressive Valencia Cathedral which stands at the site of a former mosque dating back to 1262. Learn about the architectural modifications and additions made to the structure over the centuries. Continue to view the magnificent Gothic building of La Lonja (Silk Exchange), which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Discover the Baroque building of the Basilica of Our Lady of the Forsaken. Continue with a walking tour and there will also be free-time on your own. At the end of the tour, return safely to your ship or stay in the city center.
